The most important question to answer before installing VDS Panel: Which VPS? Wrong provider = poor performance, high bill, bad support. The right provider = quiet, fast, affordable infrastructure.

In this guide, we will compare the ideal VPS features, budget ranges and prominent providers for VDS Panel as of 2026.

Minimum VPS features

For VDS Panel to work:

  • CPU: At least 2 vCPUs. 4 vCPUs are recommended for the Kubernetes module.
  • RAM: 4 GB (mandatory), 8 GB (ideal). Enough headroom for K3s and system services.
  • Disk: 40 GB NVMe SSD (mandatory). HDD is unacceptable; PostgreSQL performance decreases.
  • Network: Unlimited or at least 2 TB/month.
  • OS: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or 24.04 LTS (clean install).
Do not use OpenVZ

OpenVZ containers (some cheap VPS providers offer) cannot run Docker and K3s because the kernel is shared. Choose KVM or XEN based VPS. VDS Panel works only on these architectures.

Recommendations based on budget level

Small project (single service, low traffic)

2 CPU / 4 GB / 40 GB NVMe

  • Development, staging, demo environments
  • 1-2 Node.js or Spring Boot applications
  • 10-100 concurrent users
  • PostgreSQL + Redis

Medium scale (few services, medium traffic)

4 CPU / 8 GB / 100 GB NVMe

  • Microservice architecture (3-5 services)
  • K3s module active
  • 100-1000 concurrent users
  • Built-in services such as Nexus, SonarQube

Large scale (production, high traffic)

8 CPU / 16-32 GB / 200 GB NVMe

  • 10+ microservices
  • Multi-node K3s cluster
  • 1000+ concurrent users
  • Replication, cache layer, CDN

Provider comparison

Hetzner (Finland, Germany)

Pros: Price/performance champion. 4 CPUs / 8 GB / 80 GB NVMe = ~€8/month. High quality hardware, stable network, honest bandwidth. Cons: Dashboard is a bit outdated, support is limited to business hours.

Contabo (Germany)

Pros: Abundant supply, low price. 4 CPUs / 8 GB / 200 GB SSD = ~€7/month. Ideal for projects requiring large disks. Cons: CPU burst performance is variable. Network latency is higher in some accounts.

DigitalOcean (US, Europe)

Pros: Modern dashboard, powerful API, managed databases option. Global network. Good documentation. Cons: 2-3 times more expensive than Hetzner. ~$18/month for the same spec.

Vultr (US, Europe, Asia)

Pros: Similar to DigitalOcean, slightly cheaper. Tokyo and Seoul regions are ideal for Asia. Cons: There may be a capacity problem in some regions.

AWS Lightsail / Linode (Akamai) / Azure VM

Pros: Enterprise SLA, compliance certifications (PCI, HIPAA). For large company needs. Cons: Price 3-5× higher. Overkill for small/medium projects.

My suggestion

Hetzner CPX21

  • 3 vCPU (AMD EPYC)
  • 4GB RAM ECC
  • 80GB NVMe
  • 20 TB traffic
  • ~€6.99/month
  • Frankfurt / Helsinki
Alternative

Contabo VPS M

  • 6 vCPUs
  • 16GB RAM
  • 400GB SSD
  • 32 TB traffic
  • ~€8.99/month
  • Germany / USA / Asia
~7€/month
starter VPS
For medium sized projects. It's cheaper if you pay annually.

Why is geographic location important?

If your users are in Turkey:

  • Frankfurt / Düsseldorf (Germany), 30-40ms latency
  • Amsterdam (Netherlands), 35-45ms latency
  • Paris (France), 40-50ms latency
  • London (England), 45-55ms latency
  • Helsinki (Finland), 50-60ms latency
  • Virginia (US), 110-130ms latency (acceptable for API, bad for web)

Frankfurt is the best choice for most Türkiye traffic.

Local (Türkiye) VPS providers

Türkiye-based providers (Turhost, DCHost, VeriTeknik, Turkticaret, NataHost etc.) offer the lowest latency from Türkiye. Pros:

  • 5-15ms latency
  • Turkish support
  • Invoicing including VAT
  • Local payment methods

Cons:

  • Price/performance is lower than in Europe
  • Hardware generation is generally 1-2 generations old
  • DDoS protection limited

Local providers have an advantage in e-commerce, fintech and gaming projects that appeal to the domestic market. For global service, Hetzner is more suitable.

Cloud or said?

VPS/Cloud (my recommendation):

  • Installation in minutes
  • Snapshot + restore
  • Easy to change region
  • Cost is predictable

Dedicated server:

  • Hourly CPU/memory guaranteed
  • No noisy neighbors
  • There is a GPU option
  • Higher cost, longer setup

Unless there are 10,000+ concurrent users or heavy ML workload, VPS is sufficient.

Snapshot strategy

Whichever provider you choose, get weekly snapshots. In addition to VDS Panel’s daily DB backups, the provider snapshot also recovers in rare scenarios such as VPS kernel panic.

Conclusion

Choosing the right VPS lies at the intersection of budget, target user location, and project scale. For small projects we recommend Hetzner CPX21 (~7 €/month), for medium-sized projects Hetzner CCX23 or Contabo VPS L. If you are specific to the Turkish market, local providers should also be considered.

After selecting the target VPS spec for VDS Panel installation, the panel is up and running within 8 minutes with single command installation. If you have specific questions for provider recommendation, write to contact form.
